小男孩在学校中成绩优异。几年过去了，小男孩正在院子里复习功课，当年那个白胡子老爷爷又出现了，笑着问他：“你近期的愿望是什么”。他告诉老爷爷，他的愿望是考上一所重点高中，和一所理想的大学。老爷爷听了之后消失了。
小男孩不认为老爷爷会帮他实现愿望，只是认为那是他压力太大，而产生的幻想罢了。所以小男孩每天都在想那个白胡子老爷爷，导致成绩下降，老师说，他这个成绩是不可能考上重点高中的。可，出乎意料，小男孩奇迹般的考上了重点高中。小男孩真的相信白胡子老爷爷在帮他。学习就更加不认真了，学习也一落千丈。可，他却无动于衷，因为他知道，白胡子老爷爷会帮助他。
意料之中，他顺利的考入了理想中的大学。那天，小男孩坐在院子里，等待着白胡子老爷爷，可令人失望的是，老爷爷并没有出现。
四年之后，他毕业了，由于没找到工作，他又一次坐在了家里的院子里。这时，白胡子老爷爷出现了，他求老爷爷帮我他找工作，老爷爷答应了，可老爷爷提出了一个要求，“要带走他的父母”他竟然答应了。他有了工作，可父母却消失了。后来他因为学历不高，被解雇了。他突然想起了自己的父母。他愈加思念自己的父母了。
现在，他只能坐在院子里，守着那栋漂亮的大别墅，等着老爷爷的出现，可，老爷爷再也没有出现过。

如果因失去而懂得前行的道理，那么也是一种得，如果因得到而忘了应该吸取的教训那也是一种失。正如我失去了半套连环画，却获得一个处世的道理：要做有把握的事。这不也很值得吗？

有时候我会想：什么才是真正的朋友朋友的概念我好模糊，尤其是身边的……有些时候我也不禁会问，他们到底是怎样的朋友?如果以后分开了，会不会从此成为陌生人?以后的事我无法知道，但我知道如果他们不常找我，早以成为陌生人了……我一直认为为朋友付出很多才会得到真正的友谊的快乐，才会得到朋友的关心，但是我错了，我忽略了人的性格是无法改变的，双向赶赴才是最有意义的。
